Higgins finishes fifth in first ever sprint car race at KC-Raceway
Chillicothe, Ohio, May 12, 2007 - After two weeks of wet weather, the third time was the charm for KC-Raceway to get their first full night of racing in for the 2007 season. The 410 sprint class was filled with over 25 participants and would prove for some exciting racing under the lights.
Higgins failed to qualify for the A-Main feature during time trials which forced him to start seventh in the first heat race. After making a few minor changes, the #51 JEI sprint car climbed from seventh to third position and secured 11th spot in the A-Main feature.
In the A-Main feature, Higgins got a great start and quickly moved up to sixth position before the first caution came out. After the restart, he continued to battle working his way up to fourth place and at times challenging for third and second place positions. Around lap 15, Higgins began to slip gradually but had enough of a lead to maintain his position in fifth place where he ended up finishing and capturing his first top five finish of the 2007 season. Higgins said, “I was really happy with the setup. The track was slick and I just tried to run as smooth as possible. I am excited to get a top five finish and hopefully next time we can do even better.”
